Transform from Ruler to Rainbow Number Line to Unlock the Dilemmas of Learning Mathematics
Well-being Theatre | DEI Theatre (Curated by EdCity)
Overview
Students with special educational needs face various developmental challenges. For instance, those with visual-spatial processing difficulties often struggle to grasp abstract mathematical relationships. To address this cognitive gap, this teaching team has designed a new set of multisensory toolkit – the Rainbow Number Line System. This integrated framework bridges measurement concepts that were traditionally taught in isolation, Using ‘START / END’ gates and color-coded counting cubes helps students to concretise abstract spatial-numerical relationships through kinesthetic exploration. Through repeated using of similar tools, generalisation skill can be transferred to other topics. The speaker’s team has developed a whole new set of electronic themed textbooks and has embedded AI technology, e-learning platform and values education into the E-book.
The speaker’s team constructed school-based teaching plans to allowing students to progress along a gradual competency continuum. They try to break through the traditional thinking and create effective teaching strategies and diversified learning experiences to help students unlock the dilemmas of learning Mathematics and achieve their full potential.
