Enhancing Students' Reading Literacy through “Whole School Approach” Reading Activities

Future Learning Theatre (Curated by EdCity)

Overview

This seminar introduces various “Whole School Approach” reading activities at Ko Lui Secondary School, including reading lessons, the "Happy Reading 1-on-1" program, "Reading Across Curriculum" program, and student portfolios.

The reading activities are managed by the Reading Team, which includes the principal, the Vice Principal for Teaching and Learning, the heads of Chinese and English departments, and the teacher librarian and collaborated by all subject groups and departments. Organizing these diverse and engaging activities, which utilize a "small steps" reading approach, helps students learn to read and develop a love for reading as well as good reading habits.

This seminar will share experiences based on these practices, aiming to inspire colleagues to think about and share more "whole-school participation" reading activities to enhance students' reading literacy.
