Chinese Culture: Using five senses and a holistic learning approach to guide young children to explore the world of Tany poetry

Future Learning Theatre (Curated by EdCity)

Overview

The research team's project integrates Chinese culture, early childhood language learning, and amongst kindergartens in Hong Kong and Macau (a total of 7 schools, with approximately 800 students). The researchers selected Tang poems appropriate to kindergarten theme, aligning them with young children's cognitive and language abilities. The project also adopted a holistic learning approach that integrated the six learning areas and aroused young children's curiosity through sensory exploration, allowing them to explore the world of Tang poems and learn about Chinese culture in an intuitive picture context.

In the process of learning and teaching, teachers have a deeper understanding of Chinese culture and develop an interest in exploring culture. Children are engaged in class, can read poems fluently, and like to sing poems at school or at home. They also actively participate in activities to explore the five senses and compare ancient and modern cultures. As a result, the research team designed and produced a Tang poetry teaching package, hoping to share it with the kindergarten teachers.

Through this seminar, the speakers will share the teaching methods of Tang poetry with the kindergarten teachers to promote poetry teaching and enable the teachers to master the teaching approach of Chinese culture, thereby cultivating children's interest in Chinese culture and cultivating their temperament.
